Disney Day 2~Magic Kingdom

We got up at the crack of seven with two boys quite ready to go. We took off to the parks the long way to get it over with. We took the bus to Epcot then the mono rail to the parking area then the steam boat to Magic Kingdom. Big C was beside himself with all of the vehicles!

We arrived and Big C instantly recognized where he was. Before we even got in the main gates he was asking to go on the steam train, an old favorite from last year. It is a steam train that loops around the park.

We took the steam train over to Frontier land since they had a train ride (Big Thunder Mountain) that we missed last year. We got our fast passes then went away to wait. Monkey and Mommy went to Tom Sawyer Island and toured around. At one point we were in a really dark mine shaft/ cave thing and he was pretty nervous. He was holding my hand and telling me to go first. I'm trying to lighten things up so I say "isn't this fun" and "this is really cool" he replied "ummm, those are not the words I would use".
We could hear people screaming over at splash mountain and he decided that if they were screaming like that he wanted in on the action. Funny thing is that when eman hears them screaming like that in April, that'll be his cue NOT to go on the ride!!

Our turn came for big thunder and he went once with each of us. He LOVED it!! Big C isn't tall enough so he had to watch. So we split up. Mommy and monkey over to splash mountain and daddy and big c over to tomorrow land.

Monkey and I had a brief discussion that you don't get naked just because splash mountain is a water ride. You just get wet in your clothes. We rode it three times in quick sucession and he absolutely loved it. A combination of fast passes and rider switch passes and we were hardly in line at all.

Meanwhile big c and daddy were driving the race cars and buying lunch. We met back up to eat and I managed to comvince Monkey that we wanted to go on Space Mountain. He wasn't game until he heard people screaming. Then he was in!!! He rode it once with each of us and loved it.

We rode the tomorrowland train, the race cars and did the buzz lightyear ride as a family then went to Tony's for supper. Wow, we had yummy salmon and strip steaks on our dining plan-yummm!

Monkey got to build his own Mickey ear hat after two days of scoping out what he wanted. We ran into Pluto (one of his favourite stuffed guys) and Chip and Dale (asexual rodents that I annoyed last year) and got family phots with all of them.Took the bus the short way back to the hotel and wrapped the night up with a swim in one of the pools. Big C just grins from ear to ear while he is in the pool!!!
Here is some cool sky writing that Daddy saw over the park.

March 13, 2009~Disney day 1-Hollywood studios and travel day

Already this trip is 2 days faster! Our direct flight from Ottawa to Orlando went off without a hitch! Dave drove us to the airport and helped us to get checked in.

BTW, I want to make one of those photo books I keep hearing about, rather than scrapbooking. I know that several of you (Heather, I'm looking squarely at you here) have made those. Could you please point me in the right direction to a good site at a reasonable price?

We made it through security and customs. They took my apples since the grocery store stickers were not on them anymore. Grrrr.

The Tim Hortons/ donut store had tim bits fully stocked so the boys were rewarded for their great behaviours with a treat for each hand.

The flight went well and the ipods came in handy along with the in-flight tvs.

We landed, caught the magical express (big bus with Mickey on the side for those of you speaking to Big C). We got to our hotel, got our room and headed off to Hollywood studios for a couple of hours. We saw the Muppets three D show with the special glasses. Just as Big C was telling me that he wasn't enjoying the show, Kermit came out on a firetruck! He was fine after that! We played on "Honey I Shrunk The Kids". They loved setting off the water and getting wet.
Then, for the grand finale. We found Luigi's Casa Della Tires (in a different spot then last year) and saw Lightening McQueen and Mater. The line up was about 4 people long so we just kept going back to the end of the line and doing the whole thing again.
Monkey and Mommy want Mickey and Minnie ears this year so we headed off to the store to check out the different options:

We finally got hungry and caught the bus back to the hotel for supper. We had a big 'ol swim in the pool and went to bed around 8:30. The boys had a great day and daddy slipped in around 12:30 while they were sleeping.

3 of 4 are home!

Daddy is scheduled to arrive tonight around 7. Monkey has already been monkey-napped by Grandma. I came home to a yummy smelling house thanks to Mrs Bussey-THANK YOU!!! While I get the laundry, sleeping and such organized, here are a couple of photos to tide you over until the updates start rolling.
Here's how we're gonna do it this year. I typed up all of the updates last week as they happened. This week they will go up, exactly one week behind accompanied by photos and some videos of the trip.
BTW, I have added an RSS feed to the blog for those of you who want to get it emailed directly to your inbox.

Ahh, the granola bar shoes. Likely the best story of this year's trip...wait for it...just wait...

The season's are changing

and big C is noticing. Last night at supper he told us that it was time to change clothing.

Big C: it is time to wear rain boots not winter boots. Rain boots, rain jackets and rain snow pants.

so far so good

Everyone seems to be maintaining their good health. Saje has completed her run of antibiotics and the boys are back to their goofy selves. Here's hoping that things stay just like this for a good while!

Everyone's back to normal today

Keep the prayers for health coming...everyon's out of the house today and where they normally go. Let's try to keep it that way as everyone is 'back to normal*'

* 'normal' in this case is used to represent the regular status of each individual member of our family. It in no way implies any reponsibility on any family to be what others would consider normal. The management takes no responsibility for the behaviour or conduct of any member of the household to adhere to what others may consider normal. The management can not assume reponsibility for lost or stolen items. Bears, beets, Battlestar Galactica.

How to get hugs from big C

Big C is pretty stingy with his hugs. He doesn't often share them. There are ways to get them, you just need to be a little creative.
Here I am demonstrating a couple of methods. The first method consists of getting him while he is sick and snuggling with him while watching the snowplow movie three times in a row.He loves it and I get to kiss his little head all I want.
The second method involves him asking to watch Mater and the Ghostlight and me telling him that I will turn it on if he gives me a hug. Bribery? YES. Effective? YES. Win win if you ask me. As an update, his fever is gone. He is still a little tired, but his energy is coming back and he is not at all miserable.

Post 900 - Time for some good news

Another sickie

Dave got a call this afternoon after he was done teaching that Big C had a fever of 102 and would need to be picked up. So now I'll have some company on the couch tomorrow.
I am still feeling like junk. A trip to our family doctor has confirmed a bacterial chest infection and a viral infection in my sinuses, ears and throat. I have no energy and I am just down for the count.
Lets just get this over with before we go to Disney World!!

Post 898: woo hoo it's square root day!!

How will you be celebrating????
Need more info - try here
(have a good one, there won't be another for a day, a month and seven years!!)

Mommy's at home getting sleep

She's feeling worse today than she did yesterday. Monkey is back to himself, so he's at school today. This should give mommy some well deserved rest. If anyone comes across her on facebook or anywhere else please tell her 'get back to bed'!!

It's a wild party at our house today

Monkey and I are both feeling under the weather.
We have a nasty sinus thing that is making us both tired and a little grumpy.
Reba has no real excuse, but she is 11, so that is likely excuse enough for her!

Monkey's at home

Monkey woke up without a fever and feeling a little lethargic. Since mommy was home anyway with a vicious head cold (she's been working herself into the ground for too long and it caught up with her) we thought it best to keep Monkey home an extra day rather tahn take his weakened immune system into the mire of the public school system littered with kids feeling unwell.
Here's hoping that a day off for both will bring healthier smiles tomorrow morning.

Monkey and his dinner

They didn't agree with one another. He burped about 5 times and then I started to rush him to the bathroom. He made it to the bathroom, but lost the battle. No fever. Otherwise he's totally himself. We'll be monitoring overnight and update in the morning.

The Kids are Alright

Both kids are 100%. Monkey is feeling back to normal and had a great day yesterday. After watching the little TV while his older brother was doing gymnastics, we made a quick stop at the 'donut store' (Timmy's may want to reconsider their name) and were off to the museum. Monkey made an amazing steam boat out of K'nex (it was awesome - I'm really regretting that I didn't have the camera with me) while Big C was 'driving' the steam train nearby. We had a quick snack and were off for home. A short quiet time later and all too soon we were looking for a fun afternoon activity. Daddy likes cookies, so we got out the ingredients and got started. Daddy had also decided to pick up some butterscotch chips earlier in the week, so they were added into the mix to spice things up a little. Here's Monkey getting his hands dirty:
Big C enjoying a 'beater':(* please note that in this picture it is difficult to tell, but he's wearing 4 shirts - someone has figured out how to dress himself and it absolutely going to town)
Monkey's round cookies which 'taste better....really daddy, the ones that aren't round are crunchier':
and finally Monkey making Thomas on his doodle pad - check out the number one, the face and the 4 wheels - he's really starting to love artwork!

He's up

The nap was just more than 2 hours and 15 minutes.
He's up and having some ginger ale and toast.
Fever's still doing it's job as he's 101.6 in both ears.
Sounds like a good time to watch Cars or the Little Bear movie I got from the library on Tuesday.

still napping

almost 1 o'clock and working on a 2 hour nap.
Hopefully this is a sign of his body recovering.

Monkey update

He's officially napping.
His energy has been good and he laughed along with Franklin this morning and actively participated in 'SuperWhy' (a lifetime first!). Nothing has been flying out of either end - phew.
All good signs.
Grandma and Grandpa W canceled their visit due to his illness. I'll give him lots of extra hugs from you guys in your absence.

Poor little Monkey

Monkey's got a fever and there's a million things floating around both his before-and-after program and his school. Hence, in the storm of a billion things that are going on today, he's at home watching some little bear on the couch and daddy's here with him. So far he's got a fever of 102 and a headache, so let's hope that it stays only at that. With some TLC from daddy and a day to relax we hope that this passes soon and he's back to himself.
