The knack

This is an explanation of BigC's diagnosis. Thank you Dilbert for providing this detailed description. I'm pretty sure that Jeff was the first one to provide the explanation.

I want the car that daddy put up THERE

I come downstairs and see the stool and the bar stool MacGyvered into a remarkably strong structure.
I ask BigC what it is that he is after and he tells me that he wants the car that Dave had taken away and put in the rafters."and I tried with that chair daddy, but it wasn't high enough".
He couldn't reach the car, but he was very proud of himself. I have to admit, I was REALLY impressed at the strength of the stool/bar stool combo. He outdid himself.
If you look at how tall Dave is and how high up big C got, by the time you add the arms extended over his head, he was clearing at least 7 feet. Can I store the medicine cabinet at your house please???

Snack time

It is snack time and Dave has the kids outside at the picnic table. He puts them down and then walks away. Big C starts to get up:

So Dave goes over and sits him back down:

Then Dave walks back towards the house:

Big C is already braced on the table to get back up. Like the shampoo bottle say, wash, rinse, repeat. Sigh.

Doing the hokey pokey

"you put your pacifier in, you take your pacifer out, you put your pacifier in and you shake it all about do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself around, that's what it's all about-hey.

"your parents put your right leg in, you take your right leg out, they put your right leg in but you shake it all about..."

*groan* he just wont keep this thing on!! He isn't actually taking it off. He is just letting us know that he can.

DPoD April 13th

Ok. It's time to upgrade the security around here. I'm sure that you've seen the pictures of Big C heading for the countertop and being very, very proud of himself. Well that needed to come to an end. Bring in the 'wonderlock'.

This device allows a cupboard to only be opened up a few inches (on in this case about an inch) so that little feet can't use their rock-climbing skills to climb up. There are now 3 wonderlocks in the kitchen and one is ready for the kids bathroom.

Add to this the fact that yesterday Big C decided that he just HAD to be in the kitchen cupboards. Since the tot loks won't work with the new kitchen, we had gone with the links to hold the cupboards closed. Fat chance with this bright, little, motivated kid. The bottom cupboards have had any 'easy-to-make-a-mess' items removed and one cupboard (the one in the picture) has been filled with toys to act as postitive reinforcement. We'll keep everyone updated as to how this
is going.

DPoD April 2nd Big C the Climber Part III

Ok, so I notice that there was about 5 seconds (literally) of silence coming from the kitchen from when I had left BIg C playing in the tupperware cupboard. By the time that I got in there this is what I found. I picked him up, ran and got the camera and then put him back in to capture the moment. Anyone have any ideas on how to slow this kid down from climbing??? Anyone??? (we're going to have to do some kitchen renovations in order to keep this little guy safe)

DPoD March 31st Big C the Climber Part II

Here we go again. This time he used the little activity centre to try to climb towards the TV. What will he think of next?

DPoD March 17th

Who knew that if you stood inside the bottom drawer that the upper drawers suddenly become MUCH more accessible?

Monkey knew, that's who.

Thanks for passing along the brotherly advice!!

MAN OF STEEL

It seems that the weight gain program is working well. Big C, determined little superhero that he is, decided that he wanted to get into the cupboard. No puny little child safety device was going to stop him. When I came upon him he had this in the pieces that you see.

The original unbroken model is as follows.

Look out Superman and Spiderman, here comes SuperC!!!

Big C the climber -

As many of you may know Big C absolutely loves to climb things. Every night after bath his favourite ritual is to climb the stool in the bathroom to get a good look at himself, and generally to dance. Have you tried to remove him from this spot....best of luck to you.
