Today, just before our formal staycation, I decided to have a day all about Big C. We started the day by dropping off Monkey at his camp, then we were off to the Donut Store to sit down and enjoy the new Blueberry Bloom (a blue sprinkled donut....mmmm...) and daddy's hot chocolate. It was a super yummy way to start the day.
After this we dropped off some books at the library nearby, but it was going to closed for another 45 minutes before it opened for the day. Hence, we were off home to start the plans a little earlier than anticipated. We waited patiently for the bus, caught the bus and enjoyed some snack of fresh red plums, then took the O-train and headed downtown to catch the 'Noon on the Bridge' series of concerts by the NAC. Today it was 'Cobras Du Mandigue' - an African-style group. Sounded cool.
We stopped through the Rideau centre and took a picture by the big moose before he test drove the racecar next door at Wireless Wave. I'll have to ask them how much for one as he ALWAYS stops by to drive it for a minute or two, much to the enjoyment of the sales staff.
Then we were off to the NAC. We stopped momentarily to recognize the changing of the guard at the War Memorial. We just have so many important things here in Ottawa. I hope that the boys grow up appreciating it.
It wasn't just cool.
It was waaay cool.
When I saw the drums I was stoked.
Big C was marginally impressed.
Then the big guy came out and started to play.
That brought a smile.
By the time that all 6 drummers and the 4 dancers took the stage....
he was full-on clapping.
It was 45 minutes of eyes glued to the show and totally into it.
They did their big final number (and they were actually really really good) and we were off to the market.
As soon as we arrived Big C announced that he wanted 'berries'
I told him that at the market he'd need to be more specific. So we checked out all the different stands and he chose the local guy selling his big strawberries and yummy cherries.
We did stop at Booster Juice for a 'special juice' on the way home since he was such a big helper.
Here he is drinking it while sitting on the front bumper of a bus.
He took his paper bag of goodies and we were off to catch the bus home.
But on Big C's big day out, it wasn't just any bus.
It was a double-decker bus.
Oh yes, he was beside himself with joy.
Needless to say, I put him down to bed at 6:00 and he was fast asleep by 6:15 when I went in to check on him.
Sleep tight little buddy.
