Day 18 part II NZ - onto the North Island

We arrived on the North Island and the tallest people set to work getting the birthday meal happening.  It will come as a surprise to no one at all that Monkey requested bacon and eggs for breakfast followed by hamburgers with bacon for dinner.

 He requested a chocolate mousse cake with chocolate icing and caramel topping.

Dave and I realized that we had purchased candles but not matches.  With my new found appreciation for all things hot, I put some paper in the toaster to acquire flame to light the candles.

 He got it and he loved it all.

We walked down to the waterfront and hit the most awesome park in preparation for ringing in the first New Years Eve of 2016.

This giant slide was a feature and I think the boys would just scrap the rest of the trip in favor of playing on it.

We watched the sun go down over the harbour. 

Then, it was midnight and time to ring in 2016 with fireworks!
