DPoD November 27th - Monkey in the Snow

This is a little late in getting this up here, but nonetheless this was Monkey's first response to the snow : 'Daddy, I want to go out and play!'. And so he did.
Off he went out the back door to investigate all that winter had to offer. He was bundled up in his new, superwarm and reflective-stripe-enblazened snowsuit and likely could have stayed out for hours. Thank you mommy for making sure that the boys are safe and warm throughout the winter both outdoors and in the car. You're awesome!
Here are some shots of Monkey surveying the yard and cleaning off the table for a 'winter picnic'. Maybe he's just warming up for some winter camping with the family!

A vist from Aunt Heather

Heather came over tonight to help us get rid of the turkey leftovers. We all had a super fun time. She dropped off the foam mats that she picked up for me and we pulled out the parachute. Much silliness followed. We played with the 'chute until my shoulder had enough and then Heather turned it into a tent. This is what followed:

DPoD November 25th - The rearrangements

Ok. So after the big late turkey dinner last night there was some clean-up to be done. I left the boys to do a little bit of cleaning on their ow, but from behind the dishwasher I could tell that things weren't quite normal. Not normal at all in fact. This is what I saw as I headed for the living room:
Which made even less sense from the other side.

Until Monkey showed me the reason for it all.

Of course, a blue car had gone missing.

Some strength in that little lad though.

Big C on the other hand only had one word to say......JUMP!

NIce Try

So Daddy and Mommy put up a set of hooks in the basement today to hang up the dress up clothes. Mommy started it and Daddy finished it.

Monkey liked it, polite boy that he is he said "Thank you Daddy".
Daddy replied "it was all mommy, you can thank her"

To which Monkey said "nice try mommy"

Le sigh

Sunday quote of the day-as told by Daddy

So I may have gotten the You Tube thing to FINALLY work.

DpoD November 24th - It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Since we're already just 1 month away from the night before Christmas eve we thought that it was time to do some more wintry stuff. So this morning we went to and from breakfast via the 'big black train' (thanks grandpa W for scoring this one last winter), aka the toboggan. E-man took the ride with us back home since Monkey had yet to return from a sleepover with grandpa and grandma.
After some shennanigans indoors, mommy thought that it was finally time to put up the lights. Since there is yet to be any eavestroughing on the house, we thought that it was appropriate to put them up on the arbour and the tree in the front yard.

I think that the boys are going to really 'get' the holidays this year. We're all looking forward to it!

I want cookies

Mmmm, cookies. May I have a cookie please?
I swear that I didn't have any yet, why don't you believe me?

Monkey and Big C win an award for generosity

Monkey, Mommy and Big C made cookies a little while ago to support the United Way campaign at mommy's work. It seems that the little guys got some recognition and even a trophy for thier efforts. They were not able to be at the ceremony so mommy accepted the award for them. They sure were excited to see it when she got home. Monkey is going to put it in his room with his soccer medal. Way to go guys! Good job helping out those who need a helping hand : )

Crashed Buddies

Why is it that I find the sight of these little guys sleeping is just the cutest thing ever?? Looks like they had a long day on Thursday. If you look carefully, Monkey is on the bed the wrong way. His feet are on his pillow. All wrapped up in Grandmas's special blanket. I just love the trail of drool :)

DPoD November 23rd - Big C the Defiant

Big C has become more vocal this week. He has been better at expressing himself in words at the dinner table, in the car and at school.
He has also however been getting up at 5:30 and been quite insistent on 'beakfast'. After sxome resistance from daddy, 'beakfast' is now served ast 5:35.
At night he has been equally vocal. The other night we noticed that his vocalization had come to a halt. We expected to find him curled in bed as usual, but instead:

If you look through the spaces you can almost make out

One crashed out little buddy.

DPod November 21st - Big C and BNK

This is a bird's eye view of the last time that BNK and Big C got together to play last Wednesday night. There was so much laughter it was difficult to get them to hold still so that the photo could be taken. Even then the results on 'sport' setting were just a tad blurry. Go figure that when you put together two 2-year-olds and a tent that there will be lots of silliness.
Here is the photo evidence.
We're not sure if BNK is coming by tonight or not, but if so I'll do my best to get it on film too.

DPoD returns - November 20 - Boys will be Boys

The weekend was great. The kids learned, grew and achieved a lot! It was an irreplaceable weekend and I rank it as one my favourite times of year.
Now that things should slowly be returning to normal, here's an update on the boys.
This morning I went into the bathroom as it had been oddly quiet in there for far too long. After seeing this I ran for the camera so that we could get the evidence on film. What a great couple of boys. One is quietly playing with his trains on the bathtub ledge while the other is helping him with his belt. What a great older brother. Way to help out Monkey!
I hope that I can get back on track with updates. We'll see how my sleep is holding out!

Saturday Morning

So daddy was away this weekend. We spent a lot of time playing in the basement. Once Monkey got home from his sleepover at G&G's house we sat down and watched a little Thomas. The boys wanted thier special blankets and Big C was just about cooked...

DPoD November 12th - What Big C really stands for

Please excuse the pun in the title.
What does he stand up in the window of our bedroom for once he gets up from his nap?

I'll tell you what.

Construction out on our street.

When there's a dumptruck and a back hoe out there then there's nothing in the world that could pull our little guy away from the window. We finally hooked him up with the ottoman so that he could watch without mommy's careful guidance. I knew when they were done outside not by the fading engine sounds, but by the little boy who re-appeared at my feet.

May there by many days of road repairs in our neighbourhood's future.

WB family date night

So Friday night we had a plan. Monkey was requested by Grandma for a sleepover-done. Daddy wanted to go out for dinner and a comedy show. Sounds good. BigE's mommy was working which meant that BigE's daddy would be at home....aha, a place for BigC to hang out for the night.

So BigC went and played with The Bussey Family. You can get a full write up complete with pictures by going to the link.

Mommy and Daddy went to Giovanni's for supper and used their coupon from the Entertainment Book. A fantastic dinner, mmmmmm. Then we went to Absolute Comedy, also out of the entertainment book. It was DREADFUL! The MC was great, Jocko was his name and he was good. The opening act got the light, and for good reason. The headliner was Al Lubell he was dreaful. We just kept looking at each other in disbelief. He finally got the light and went on for another 15 minutes, finally ending up on stage in a G string and a woman's nightie.

At least we used a coupon!

Sunday morning Chez WB

This morning the boys got up at 7. That was so nice of them!! Daddy stayed in bed and mommy brougth them downstairs to make pancakes with Smarties in them.
Monkey helped empty the dishwasher and put all of the Tupperware away.
Then, after breakfast, he did a puzzle that Grandma bought him a couple of years ago.

Quote of the day-Get a Job

Monkey: Daddy, when you get married you have to get a job

Daddy: if you are not married can you get a job?

Monkey: No

Daddy: What if you are married and you don't have a job?

Monkey: Then you have to get one.

Daddy: Where did you hear about this?

Monkey: I thought about it in my cheek.

DPoD November 10th - Monkey and Daddy do the Sens game

THANKS STU!!! We got some great tickets to today's game for Monkey's first time to see the Senator's play. We arranged for a 3 o'clock game so that Monkey could be up for it. And was he ever up for it.
We caught the bus right near home and then connected to the 400 bus to take us right to Scotiabank place.

Monkey told me right away that this was the place where he saw Thomas with grandma and grandpa months ago. We made the connection with only a minute in between and got dropped off right at the doors. We stopped for a quick photo outside

and then proceeded indoors to take our seats. We were a little early, so we had a few moments to take it all in. We were right near the ice behind the net

so we were able to come to ice level and watch them warm up from only a few feet away. You can see the goalie right behind Monkey in this picture here.
We went back to our seats and shortly after daddy's favourite part of the game - the national anthem. Monkey took off his hat and joined the 20 000 fans in singing. It was really moving. The game started and it was really full of action. The puck moved from end to end quickly and Monkey was following right along. He was cheering 'Go Sens Go' to the chagrin of the neighbouring Habs fans and the delight of every hockey mom around us. The other team scored and since many people around us got up and cheered, Monkey did too. When I told him that the other team scored he seemed unphased - he was so into the game he didn't caare who was scoring. We should all live as innocently and as well.
There were lots of Sparticat sightings, one even so close that Monkey could almost reach over to give him a high 5!
The end of the first period brought hunger. Since we hadn't had snack we thought that it was time for a hot dog. We got the kids combo which came with the hot dog that Monkey had been desperately seeking. Monkey thoroughly enjoyed it. So much so that not only did he heat the entire thing in decent time, but Daddy thinks that we should go to a baseball game or something this summer where we could enjoy one again.
At the end of the 2nd period the score was still 1-0 for the visitors and Monkey was starting to notice that a lot of the other kids had flags to wave. I told myself that we were still 'under budget' for the day and that I thought it would be really special for him to have something to take home from his first game. We checked it out and they were even on sale. He waved it proudly from the time that he picked the one that he wanted from all the racks to the time that we went back to our seats. He was so cute that a photographer from the Citizen asked for his picture, so please keep an eye on the sports section!
Thankfully the Sens scored 2 goals in the 3rd period - much to the delighted flag waving of Monkey! They added an empty net goal to seal the deal and Monkey was really happy that his first game out was a win. He was a little sad though to see it all come to an end . We cajoled with the other Sens fans on the way home and Monkey even waved his flag at the gas station where we stopped to meet up with mommy.
At the end of the day Monkey was totally drained. He's probably fast asleep dreaming of hockey, hockey, hockey.
