Daily Smile Update

These photos were taken this morning. He's doing really well. I think that he loves that he gets an endless supply of popsicles and has been allowed to watch Mater and The Ghostlight about 100 times in the last three days.
The 911 Book is still a huge hit! I can hear that thing any time he is in the bathroom-it is awesome! There is one lump on his lip that is making me uneasy. I asked them about it at CHEO and they said it was just a fat lip. As the swelling is going down everywhere else, the lump is staying the same. I am wondering if we'll need to follow up to get it fixed.

More 911 Book Video

Love it. I was trying to grab this shot with the TV in the background. Since they rarely get to watch the "magic box" it is about an even match : )

Our day

First, some shots of Big C's new smile:
The swelling is coming down and with small doses of Advil he isn't in pain from what we can tell.
Our boys playing together this morning.

The boys are loving the sweet Plan Toys Terrace Play House that I scored in Used Ottawa this week. It is complete with just about every set that they could ever need for it. We're going to make Monkey work for it over the coming weeks to co-incide with the stickers that he earns at school and on the bus.

Our sweet baby's new mug

The swelling will go down tomorrow and get less and less every day.

NB Photos Taken Thursday night before bedtimeThe Dr said that after a year it'll be really hard to even tell that it happened.

I'm sure that the chicks will dig the "dangerous" man that he is ; )

We're home from the hospital

Wow. What was described as a "split lip" was really more like a space where the lip and muscles above the lip had separated enough that you could put your finger there. His lip was wide open with his mouth exposed. It looked like a child with a cleft palate that had not been repaired.

When the doctors saw the extent of the damage they decided to perform a minor surgery to repair the damage. They needed to sedate him to be sure that he didn't move. The concern, as it was expressed to me was "if we are off by more than a millimeter, he'll have a permanent deformity". These are very alarming words for parents to hear.

I took pictures of him pre-operation on my cell phone but I can't figure out how to get them off :s

The surgery was done with waking sedation and Dave and I were able to stay in the room. He came out of it really well and after an hour of observation we are home with our little guy.

Grandma came over with Popsicles and a present and he is happy again.

Big is supposed to be the coordinated one!

He is fine, but he is waiting in the emergency room at CHEO to get stitches. He fell this morning at day care mere minutes after arriving. Dave turned the car around and headed back to get him. The day care director rode in the back and they made thier way to the hospital with ice on his poor little face.

So far they have been triaged and are just waiting for a Dr. I'll update as I know more.

A family Photo

This great shot was taken when Monkey got his certificate last Thursday.

They're here!! They're here!!!

So on Friday the boys got a special package from an old friend of mommy's who is now in the US of A. Monkey and Big C tore into their packages and found some awesome books, one of which has been very popular around these parts all weekend. We told Big C that it was a potty book for when you're waiting to do something on it.
I think it was a brilliant move. He spent about 2 hours a day on the potty playing with the book. To enter the 'I think the batteries on the 9-1-1 book will run out' pool please look to the bar at the side.
Thank you so much for the books! The boys absolutely love them and it has been a joy around the house having them here. We appreciate it so much!
**update** from Saje I'm really sorry that it took so long to get this post up : ( we're having major camera problems in this house and I wanted to post the shots. There is still a better video to come where you can see the ear to ear grin : )

NB as I type this all I can hear from the bathroom upstairs is "911 lets go!! " and engine sounds!! He loves it

Monkey builds a shelf

Grandma C's pottery studio is being re-located to a bigger space in the basement and Monkey is a big help. During this week's sleep-over, he learned how to use a socket wrench and helped Grandpa take a shelf apart, move it, and put it back together.
Before bedtime, Monkey, Grandma and Grandpa were sitting in the family room. Monkey stood up, moved to the centre of the room and said, "I have an announcement to make. Grandpa is going to put me to bed tonight."
Grandma: "What will I do?"
Monkey: "After Grandpa is finished, you can kiss me."

Ranger's got a forever home

Last night a great family showed up at our door and after a half hour of getting to know him, Ranger went home with them upon a unanimous vote. They have 2 teenage kids who were really excited to meet Ranger and play games with him in our basement as the whole family got to know him. He had on his A-game and even caught a treat from me to show everyone that he could do it (thanks for that buddy). While he'll be missed here at the WB's house, we know that he'll get lots of love, attention and many, many happy years with his 'forever family'. Have a great time Ranger, we were glad to have you in our home.

Hello, my name is Ranger

We never did confirm the new temporary name. Black Bear's current name is Ranger. Hello Ranger. I say that his name is temporary because he will not be with us forever. He will be here for only a short time until he can find a new home.

In fact. A new maybe mommy is coming by this afternoon to meet Ranger and see if her home could be his forever home.

We'll have to wait and see.

The Award Ceremony

After all of the hurdles that Monkey has overcome in the last year, we were so proud to spend this morning at an assembly celebrating his successes this year.
This morning he received an award for Responsibility. Yay Monkey! These pictures are pretty dreadful but I'm hoping that Grandma's camera will have some better shots on it. We also grabbed a video. Here it is:

Love you buddy!!! So proud of all of the progress you have made.
