Contest hint day 2
Playing Spaceman
Monkey and daddy have been engaging in 'special time' - a time when Monkey makes all the rules and the grownup just gets to play along. The other night it took the flavour of Buzz Lightyear and some space adventures. It was absolutely awesome!!
Here we are doing some exploring of Mars with 'Daddy One' communicating with 'Monkey One' as base control. We checked out the trampoline as part of the expedition and went over, under and through lots of stuff. It was by far the most fun that I've had in weeks. When I wasn't smiling I was all out laughing.I'm not sure who had more fun, him or me.
I love you Monkey!

Eczema
Monkey has always had dry skin. By conicidence we have always used a really great stick moisturiser on him sold by Rocky Mountain Soap Company. It fit in the diaper bag, my purse, ect. We ran out this year and started using generic moisturisers on his hands. Eeeek! They got red and scaly and angry! I started using grapeseed oil mixed with vitamin E oil. This should be lush and fantastic. Instead of helping, it made his hands REALLY ANGRY.
My poor child was crying and upset a lot of the time. Finally grandma clued in that it is eczema. Of course! No wonder the Eczema relief body butter has worked so well all these years! He actually needed that specific product!
Nuyanne loaned me some Skin Fix and I have the tail end of a body butter stick that I'm using on his hands for now. I've ordered more of the body butter as well as some Skin Fix (free shipping from well.ca) and am anticipating thier arrival soon. In the meantime his hands are doing much better with the Skin Fix and he is striking a balance between using the alcohol based sanitizers all the time at school and still washing enough to stay clean and healthy.

At the Good Ol Hockey Game
Today we had another set of tickets for the local junior hockey team, so we were off for the 2 pm start.
What a hoot!
We met up with H near the arena and made our way to our awesome seats.
Monkey decided that he need a better view, so he treated his like a booster seat to see just like the grown-ups.
The boys had a great first period, so we were off to the concession stands for a little popcarn (the 2$ variety, not the $5.25!). The second period was pretty quiet.
During the next intermission Monkey asked to spend some of his allowance on a popsicle. I was in.
We traveled the entire circumference of the inside of the arena and found it almost as we returned to our seats.
Not only was he overjoyed...it was the least expensive thing in the whole place!
Here he is enjoying his Spiderman popsicle.
Meanwhile mommy was hooking up Big C with some free stuff. Here's the pink hat the he got....with the Nascar patch on the side. I don't know that he'll ever take it off. At least he's ready for his teenage 'so cool' phase.'
We all had a great time. Especially I think mommy and H, who snuggled up for this photo op.
Thanks ladies and boys for a great afternoon out.

Responsibility is a funny thing
In the last 6 months to a year we have deemed Monkey responsible enough to do things like pour his own milk and cereal.
This morning Dave was working on the boy's Christmas present from us and I was flitting around and the boys were hungry.
BigC has decided that he is also responsible enough to get his own food. Only some of it ended up on the floor and he is awfully proud of himself!

While the big boys are away, the rest will play
The big boys were away on Friday night into Saturday. So on Saturday morning big C and I trucked off to his Disney World of the North, the Museum of Science and Technology. We saw the rocket:
He lined up the school busses in the store:
Did I mention he was awed by the rocket?
He is really in to the lighthouse:
He drove us to Grandma and Grandpa's house:
He drove the snowmobile:
Went down the world's slowest slide.
running through the tunnels:
a couple of chrismas/birthday present ideas at the Lego exhibit:
