We flew in last night, landing in Darwin just after midnight. By the time we got to our hostel and in to bed it was pushing 1:30am. For some reason, flights to and from Darwin seem to happen at stupid o'clock.
We rolled out of bed around 8 and got our bearings. We opted to head to the waterfront and see what is there. The answer is that there is a huge water festival on today!
There were bouncy castles, info booths, face painting, a DJ and shade. I opted for this view for quite some time.
The two shortest family members hit the bouncy castles. When are you too big for a bouncy castle? Never I hope. They LOVE THEM.
The waterfront is lovely and we can't wait to explore it next week when we return from our tour of Katherine, Kakadu and Litchfield.
Monkey was almost too cool to be in this photo. It is 28 degrees in the shade today. I'm not sure that you would have gotten me in the costume suit for love or money!!!
Such cheerful baloons for the kids.
Oh Australia.
Spoiler alert: they shut down the streets all around our hostel. It turns out there there is the "Hottest Mile in the Southern Hemisphere" race happening RIGHT HERE. there was no way that this girl was not registering for that!!
