DPoD February 28th - How Ironic

Speaking of haircuts I'm reminded of one my favourite Simpson quotes:

Homer: 'Family, Homer Simpson is going to college'
Bart: 'Clown or barber?'
(throttling ensues)

It appears that our boy is headed for a double major in both hairstyle and clowning:
(note that he's combing his brother's hair with a play rake while pretending to play barber at home)

DPoD February 25th - MMMmuffins!

Since Monkey will be cooking at school tomorrow and the boys are in need of a little more greenery in their diet I thought it was the perfect time to make muffins with Monkey. Not just any muffins though.
Apple, pear, brocolli stem, chocoloate chip muffins.
mmmmmmm....they turned out super tasty.
There's 6 of the original 12 left. Get here quick if you'd like one.

Doughy....
muffins you say?
Quick, hide the evidence!

DPoD February 24th - Monkey's Artwork

There isn't a gallery showing scheduled yet, but here's an artist's explanation of what's what:
This is a lion (we're working on 'L' in school this week):
Here's Monkey with lots of 'crazy hair' (note the googly eyes and the really big smile near the bottom):

You know how you can never figure out which way is up in a picture. Monkey solved that. Here's the picture one way with 2 eyes and a smile:

And flipped 180 degrees - with a smile and 2 eyes in the other direction too!

Ottawa 67's 4 London Knights 6-grrrrr

Today, with Jeff and Katie in town we headed off to the 67s game with Heather and Nick. What an absolute blast. I am quite convinced that the kids couldn't have cared less about the game, but we had a great time none-the-less.

Big C's Birthday Party

What would a birthday be without a party. We had some of Big C's friends over to help him to celebrate. They had a great time.
Dave asked if he wanted to open his presents, this was his answer, arms straight up in the air:He received gifts of trucks trucks and then some more trucks. He was completely bside himself with happiness.

Things got a little dicey when it came time to cut into Mater. Big C was not at all convinced that we should be doing that. When he realised that Mater was a cake and very edible he calmed down.

Everyone went home and napped! A success all around : )

Happy Anniversary (you know who you are)

take note of big c's bum next to Monkey in the photo above.

Mater cake

Whaddaya yer think?

The Mater cake cont'd

They key for me would be big C's reaction to the cake. I wanted him to be able to see that it was Mater. I didn't want to have to tell him that. I showed him the cake and asked him who it was, he looked, and paused and said "BEATER". Ahh, success!! He knew it was Mater! He then wanted to see the cake again and again.

Here I have a video of him sitting at the table having a discussion explaining the wheels on the bus to his friend the Mater cake.

It could drop on the floor in a million peices now for all it matters to me : ) I made Big C exactly what he wanted and he is happy. Ahh, the golden moments of parenting.

Grandma wishes he would do this for her!!

We have been putting the kids to bed a little later at night, so around 7 now instead of 6:30. Big C now gets up around 6 rather than before 6. Monkey has been waking up around 6 and then going back to sleep. This morning I had to wake him up at twenty to seven. Keep it up Monkey!!!
Monkey is off to school this morning but big C has to stay home. He threw up at school yesterday morning. He has been completely fine ever since and has eaten lots of hearty meals. Still, the rules are the rules.

The birthday post

Wow, I am really late with this one, almost a week-sorry! Dave and I both thought that the other had posted it. Either way, here we are. The day started off with Big C receiving the ultimate big c gift from Monkey-a helicopter with Mater on board. Awesome. He calls it his Hello Doctor. The new guest at the table for every meal!30 minutes into the nap Daddy found this:
clearly, big c had missed that he was supposed to be SLEEPING. He just thought that Daddy was being generous by putting him up in his room and keeping Monkey from trying to play with the toy. Once the Hello Doctor was removed the nap followed very shortly after. It'll be out of batteries soon...did I mention that it talks and makes helicopter noises? Yep, yep it does.

Here the hello doctor races lightning McQueen

Next Big C was given a GIANT truck from mommy and daddy. It is a transport car carrier thing. HUGELY popular. He is lying down beside it to demonstrate that it is almost as big as him.
And that means...all aboard!!! He can ride it!!

Next he opened up the John Deere tractor from Grandma and Grandpa W

DPoD February 12th - The Return of Beater and The Making of Valentine's Cookies Part II

Mommy rocks. She got Big C a new Mater (or as he says - beater) . He loves it. You're awesome.

Meanwhile back at the homestead we finished the Valentine's cookies and did a little Quality Assurance. They passed both the lick test and the devouring test.

DPoD February 11th - Monkey's first day at his new school

(please note: I did a little catch up today, so there are 3 days of posts to read!)

Monkey had a great day at his new school. Mommy had the boys dressed in matching outfits, how cute! I guess that she wanted to be sure that everyone knew that they're brothers. I think that they'll all know very, very soon. There were only 2 of them there today in his class (it maxes for 3 days of the week with 5 of them there) so he got lots of attention. He passed Big C in the hallways and gave him a pat on the back. He made a wonderful spider and enjoyed the piano in the music room as well as the microphone with the speakers. He had a great day all around and came home in wonderful spirits. Here he is filling in mommy on his first day!
At home we made some heart-shaped cookies for Valentines day rather than spreading around cards. Here are a few photos of Monday in action making them and showing them off. He's learned recently to just LOVE the camera.
