The nap was just more than 2 hours and 15 minutes.
He's up and having some ginger ale and toast.
Fever's still doing it's job as he's 101.6 in both ears.
Sounds like a good time to watch Cars or the Little Bear movie I got from the library on Tuesday.
We have revived our old blog to share our travels with our family, friends and our future selves. We've changed our names around a little to keep our privacy. We hope you enjoy your visit!

still napping
almost 1 o'clock and working on a 2 hour nap.
Hopefully this is a sign of his body recovering.

Monkey update
He's officially napping.
His energy has been good and he laughed along with Franklin this morning and actively participated in 'SuperWhy' (a lifetime first!). Nothing has been flying out of either end - phew.
All good signs.
Grandma and Grandpa W canceled their visit due to his illness. I'll give him lots of extra hugs from you guys in your absence.

Poor little Monkey
Monkey's got a fever and there's a million things floating around both his before-and-after program and his school. Hence, in the storm of a billion things that are going on today, he's at home watching some little bear on the couch and daddy's here with him. So far he's got a fever of 102 and a headache, so let's hope that it stays only at that. With some TLC from daddy and a day to relax we hope that this passes soon and he's back to himself.

Introducing Reba
This is Reba. She is 11 years old. She is a German Shepherd. She is gentle and sweet. She likes to play, but has some tenderness on her hind legs. Reba's forever home was lost recently when her owners decided to give her up so they could travel more.
Luckily for Reba she got adopted by a great family with young kids. That family had to give Reba back when they realized that one of their children is allergic to dogs. Poor Reba. She is looking for a new home again. She has now come to live with the WB's until a new forever home can be found. Do you know anyone who has that home for Reba?Reba is used to being home during the day by herself and is completely housebroken. Her hearing is starting to fade, but her sense of smell is not!! Reba likes to surf the counters and today helped herself to an entire loaf of Wonder bread. She left two slices and some of the plastic bag.She later washed that down with a couple of licks off of the grease can that we had in the yard.
Now the WB's place food items a little further out of reach!

Another edition of "sleeping boys"
As our long time readers can attest to, I love the sight of a sleeping child. They look so perfect and serene. Their cherubic little faces just mesmerize me.
The line at the bottom of the picture above is his beloved ambulance. You can just see the new cut on his chin in this shot.Another bruise for Monkey's forehead...
And a photo of the man who I include whenever I speak of "my boys" or even "my children" ; p
It is good to be home, but what is with all this SNOW?!?!?

The junk night update
Here is the official before picture of the mighty bowl:
And here is the after(each pea magically turned into a piece of candy while the boys got ready for their showers)
The boys were awestruck and really enjoyed the spoils of their hard work. We're all really looking forward to next week when junk night returns!

The Magic Bowl
Tonight is daddy's first junk night with the boys (an idea that we stole from these guys). I thought that I would start off the week with an idea that I got from one of the parent magazines with my own little twist on it. Monkey made himself his first bowl at grandma's house:
so I decided that every time someone did a nice deed for someone else that the recipient of the deed would place a bean (actually a small pea) into the bowl. The beans would accumulate until junk night when they would magically be transformed into junk that the kids could share. Lo and behold Monkey has been bringing Big C's cereal bowl to the dishwasher every morning and the last 2 days he's also taken to putting out Big C's boots and jacket since he's so much faster at getting ready in the morning. He's so excited to see the little beans filling up the bowl in anticipation of today. It's been a lot of fun and spread some positive vibes throughout the house, with an easy, positive reward for Monkey to boot. I'll give an update later today with the photos of the 'transformation' as well as the reaction!

3 more stickers
The boys had super days. Big C got a bonk on his chin, proof that he's inheritted daddy's head magnet, but with some TLC is doing just fine. He did request medicine. They didn't give him any, but I did tell them that to him 'medicine' is popsicles. They had a good laugh.
Monkey had a great day. He was a big helper all day and got all 3 stickers. We're having a celebratory dinner and then having some stories before bed.
Did I mention that the boys decided to try to sleep in today? They waited until I got them at 6:15, but certainly enjoyed the snuggles that followed. We had a smooth morning and got out the door no problemo.

Smooth Sailin'
Daddy got all the snuggles this morning, though he had to go and collect both boys to do so. Both boys were big helpers in getting dressed, eating a good breakfast and getting out the door on time. What special little guys. We're enjoying the snow here, however the forecast in other places looks gorgeous for today! We'll have to do some toboganning to celebrate.

Construction Cake take two
Big C's family birthday party is tomorrow. In preparation I made the cake tonight. It turned out so nice and high that I can't get the lid on my Tupperware cake keeper!
He spotted it on the counter on his way up to bed and got really, REALLY excited about it and the party. Monkey helped me decorate the top of it. I was happy with three trucks, he really wanted to add the fourth. He also helped me to clean up the wax paper that I used to protect the platter from the icing.

The Return to the O-Train
This morning we decided to celebrate Family Day (the real one...big C had been told that any day that we're not at work/school is a family day) with an old tradition. Since the boys were up at a reasonable time (read 6:30ish) we had some early breakfast and caught the local bus at 8:30. Here are the boys waiting patiently for the bus inside our front door.
After we caught the local bus we kept an eye out for deer (none), birds (lots) and other such wildlife (limited). I think that the boys were enjoying the ride, though it was difficult to tell:
When we got to the O-train, which is still free, the boys dove into the snack of red grapes (they were on sale and Big C picked the red ones). Both boys worked together to polish off the entire supply!
We passed all the usual sights - Home Depot (closed for the day), the water by Carleton and the big dark tunnel:
All too soon we were waiting for the bus home, but the wait was well worth it as we passed an ambulance on the way!
When we got home, Monkey noticed the big puff of smoke coming out of the back of the bus. Daddy told him 'that's exhaust'
Monkey replied 'Big C and I get that way sometime too!'

Grandpa...can you read me this book?
Grandpa came over this morning to take Monkey to his swimming lessons. He came a little early so that he could spend time with the boys. As soon as they heard that they both ran for the book shelf and found a book and brought it over.I just love that the first thing he makes them both think of is reading books!

911 Book update
This thing is still going strong! Christy, you must have picked it from the back of the shelf with fresh batteries in it! It still holds the place of honour in our powder room and those batteries are showing no signs of letting up!
Valentine's Day Quote of the Day
I was over Chez Bussey and wanted a hug. I walk into the living room an ask "who wants a hug?" My baby replies very enthusiastically "ME!!!".
He isn't a big snuggler so I was thrilled. I wrap him in my arms and am right in the middle of loving the experience when he says "I thought you said hot dog."
Sigh.

Quote of the Day
Somehow the boys got on the following topic at the breakfast table:
Monkey: 'Big C, I'm going to eat you'
(Big C gets a little upset, though also seems to take it pretty well)
Monkey: "I'm only kidding, I would just trade you for a sack of potatoes'
(mommy snickers)

Monkey the Meterosexual
Monkey has always liked having his hair done. He likes to have it spiked up or have colour sprayed in. I have always encouraged this. I was busy getting ready for Big C's party and didn't have time to do Monkey's hair for him...so I showed him how to do it himself. I could not resist getting these good photo's of the look of sincere concentration on his face while styling his locks.
Pardon the cluttered bathroom! I had just given him a hair cut prior to our shower : )

The sleep over
For those of you who don't frequent our sister blog regularly, I invite you to make your way over there for pictures of Big E and Monkey's very first ever sleep over together.

Big C's Bithday Party
This weekend we celebrated Big C's birthday.
His friends were more than happy to come over and help him ring it in with him.
We had a great time playing on all floors of the house then playing parachute games, opening gifts, eating CAKE (big C's hands down favorite part of the party) and hot dogs.
My unfortunate selection of balloon decorations received quite a bit of attention and much snickering. Thank you honey for taking these delightful pictures so that I never forget how hysterical that was, sigh...okay...snicker!
