Costa Rica Day 1-Montreal to Monteverde

We drove to Montreal last night to ensure we were well placed to catch our 7am flight. Our service included someone meeting us as soon as we got to the terminal in San Jose and showing us the super sneaky short line for customs, then getting us to our driver. The warm air feels so good on our skin!!

We spent the 4 hour drive to Monteverde playing cards, searching for the letters of the alphabet on the local signs and so on (and by so on I obviously mean that the boys played on their phones).

We saw several rainbows on the drive. The mountains are lush and green and fabulous.
Our driver was great for pulling over for photos and great views as well as knowing where to find the rest stops along the route.
Some themes this trip was booked around: Malcolm loves nature and Costa Rica is chock full of it. Cameron loves vehicles and neat modes of transportation. Dave and I like getting outdoors, being active and seeing as much of a destination as we can. We're wanting all of that, plus Christmas, a birthday and we are travelling with a human who has autism.

We're getting pretty good at knowing what works and we've been working with the same travel agent for over a decade now (Edmundo at Let's Take the Kids Travel). He helps us to make our visions come alive.
Our room is GORGEOUS with incredible views. We arrived in time to watch the sun set over the valley far below our balcony. The entire hotel is comprised of multiple buildings built in to the side of a mountain. We're pretty tired after a long day of travel so that's the end of our adventuring for today. We have a day of exploring the local town, hiking and sitting on my backside on this balcony and staring at nature.
