Why I love Lands End when it comes to buying kids stuff

In October 2007 we bought Monkey a big red backpack from Lands End. It was super cool. It had a battery charger and it lit up with blue lights that were either solid or flashing. MONKEY LOVED IT!

As a side note our trip through the Atlanta airport was made a little more stressful last year because of this bag...(warning, off topic story here)

After running it through the x ray machine.

Security guy "excuse me mam, are there wires in your backpack?"

Me with a confused look turning to understanding and I grab for the bag "oh yes, it lights up, let me show you"

security guy "back away from the bag mam"

Of course, when I explained from a distance how it was supposed to light up and what buttons to press, he tried and the batteries were dead. So he wasn't really buying my story. At that point we were on our way home from the crazy Disney trip and just wanted to go. We were prepared to leave it there!! He let us through after scanning it a couple of times. This year it didn't come with us!!

Back to my story. So the bag was great. Monkey wore it for Hallowe'en that year and has had it at school every day since.I went to pick him up at camp on Friday and the zipper broke in my hands. We tried, but couldn't fix it. No problem said the good people at Land's End. Bring it to Sears with your packing slip (yes, I still had the packing slip, I have a file for such things) and get your money back. Then order a new bag.

Done. We brought it back last night and then reordered a new backpack today. Sadly they don't sell the light up one anymore (but good for travelling through air port security I guess) but we got a different one. It it blue and red and has an airplane on it. It will also be monogrammed. He will be watching the mail for it! This one actually cost less than the last one so we get to keep the difference. I love Lands End!
