First School Break Holiday Day 11-Ulverstone to Spirit of Tasmania

This morning we awoke delightfully late to the sun shining into our cozy little cabin near Ulverstone. We started our day with bacon,  cheese and egg omelets as well as iced raisin bread and Cadbury hot chocolates. The boys were able to feed the sheep and the goats stake bread from the home's owner.
We headed for the Don Railway museum to ride the rails and check out their museum. Our experience from the science and technology museum in Ottawa had us prepped for a good day,  but our expectations were greatly exceeded. Immediately upon entry we caught the 15 minute ride from the station to the beach and both boys were able to take turns sitting next to the engineer and blowing the horn at crossings. We spent a lovely 10 minutes wandering the beach before our return trip. Monkey rode up front with Dave,  while Saje and Big C sat comfortably in the first car. After briefly checking out the museum, including amazingly well restored cars and locomotives,   we headed to the adjacent community park for lunch.

We love community parks in Australia. They contain electric barbecues funded by local council,  so we seized the opportunity to cook up some snags and heat up chicken to have pulled chicken sandwiches.  We ate like kings!

Upon returning to the museum we came across four 1930 ' s classic cars parking in the car park.  It was entertaining to see all the car guys looking at the classic trains and he train guys coming out to check out the classic cars.

We took a good long break to go to the beach to play in the sand and check out the local ocean life. Monkey was spellbound by all of the snails and small red organisms stuck to rocks. We finished the days with AMAZING fish n chips at Pedro ' s before boarding chiecking out the adjacent park and heading to our overnight ferry back to Melbourne. Saje arranged an amazing room right above the entrance ramps.
We loved every minute of Tasmania and will miss her greatly.
