First School Break Road Trip-Day 6-Port Arthur

We woke up nice and cozy in our little cottage thanks to Dave having gotten up in the middle of the night to stoke the fire, the space heater and the electric blankets.

I'm still fighting a cold so didn't argue when Dave got up and let me sleep in a bit-until 8!!
Today is our day to visit the UNESCO Port Arthur Australian Convict Sites.  They accepted our Access2 card for admission to the site, but not for the ghost tour.

We started with a great introductory 40 minute tour, then a harbour cruise. Both are included in the price of admission. Here, the guide was using BigC as an example of a child who is old enough to have been a prisoner here.

They both gave us some great insight into the history of the place and the things that have gone on here.  Some true human suffering has happened on the very grounds that we're walking on today.

Some of the original stone buildings remain, in differing amounts of disrepair.

One thing that we have noticed already on this year-long journey is that BigC has become more agreeable and more courageous.  Today's example was that he asked, after I purchased tickets for Monkey and I, to go on the ghost tour of the pruson this evening. We've purchased tickets for both he and Dave and we will see how it goes.
This cabin has of the amenities a girl could want!

...later...
We were all very impressed.  BigC stayed with one of us all through the tour (generally clutching one of our hands and restricting blood flow) and was attentive and respectful.  He was a bit spooked, but we all were!  Here is a photo of Monkey who was one of the four lantern bearers for the walk.

Below you can see both proud boys with their "I survived the Port Arthur Ghost Walk" certificates.
