First School Holiday Day 9-still in Hobart

The Salamanca markets happen every week on Saturday in Hobart and we were told that we needed to be there.  Months ago we rearranged the itinerary to be there and we're glad we did.

It is a massive market with everything from second hand clothing, hand made soaps, pottery, fudge (with samples), Bruny Island Cheese (with samples), jams (with samples), wine (WITH SAMPLES!) you get the idea.  It's possible that a couple of our readers will be opening Christmas gifts from the market!

Monkey was especially thrilled about the fudge and cheese tasting (and subsequent purchases) as he had been disappointed not to be able to get to any of the Bruny Island stuff yesterday. Dave and I were thrilled about the wine tasting for the same reason.  A win!!

We had heard that the fish and chips were easy to get our hands on so we hit the warf.  As we were reading menus on the front of a few places a passerby handed us a coupon that gave us 2 for 1 coupon that he wasn't going to use at one of the places that we were standing in front of.  What a blessing! We ate fish and chips in this boat. It goes without saying that BigC was over the moon to be eating in a giant fishing boat while watching a giant crane about 30 feet away hoist stuff on to the roof of an office building!

You can just picture BigC's face when we said that we would be eating in this giant boat!!!  Lunch was delicious. We spent the rest of the afternoon wandering around the ward and the CBD (central business district).

In the middle of all of that, we changed our accommodation for tomorrow night in a spur of the moment decision. Before Dave left to go and sample a flight of local beers while the kids and I went back to our rental flat and zoned out for a bit.

He was thanked for his trouble with a big red kiss.  Unfortunately the person who left this kiss for him did not leave their number.
Tomorrow we are heading 4 hours north to Cradle Mountain and then to our newly acquired rental flat in Ulverstone.
