The really big, super-awesome all-day train trip

Friday we had a full day of trains and transportation, courtesy of grandma. She had the whole day planned out and ready for us to go to Montreal to see Exporail. We left Ottawa on VIA in the morning and rode the train to downtown Montreal. The boys had a fabulous time riding the rails and playing the activities that grandma has prepared. We watched out the window as the country-side rolled by and our destination got closer and closer. Here we are pulling into the Station at Place Bonaventure - underground! The boys thought it was soooo cool
We grabbed a quick lunch and then were off on our express train to Exporail.THe view on the express bus was really cool. We saw tonnes of old buildings, including the 5 Roses flour mill, and really neat bridges.
We managed to avoid the rain almost all the way there. The sky opened up as we purchased our entry tickets and we got a little soaked running the 150 feet to the front door.(It's difficult to make out, but the rain is falling in sheets and bouncing off the pavement)

Once inside the boys were blown away. Here is part I of the photos of our visit.
They both had a good, long look at the HUGE snowblower on the front of this train.
They tried out the signal changing device.
Both of them were stoked about the diesel train in the corner. You could use the controls and even move the windshield wiper.
You could even go inside the engine compartment and see the size of it all inside. It was really awesome.

You could even spin one of the real wheels. It was a little loud for those at wheel level.
(part II to follow soon)
