The alarm clock went off way too early this morning for a family that has been enjoying living on Sydney time in New Zealand! With the car already packed we got on the road at 7:15 to make our 12:30 boat departure from Manapouri.
It was a stunningly beautiful drive...blah...blah...blah scenery....
The boat cruise was recommended by my friend Liz. Right off the bat it was a hit. You take a boat, to a coach bus to the actual boat. What a fantastic start for my boys!!

We took full advantage of the opportunity to kayak and to swim in the sound.
BigC fibbed about his age to be permitted to kayak. Monkey quickly threw him under the bus though so they gave Dave a tow rope should he get tired, which he did. In all we kayaked for 3km. Dave towed BigC most of the way. I offered to tow Monkey for a bit but just as we were hooking him on to my kayak we came around the corner to find the boat sitting right there.
With water temperatures at a balmy 13.3 degrees only one of us was
brave, stupid, keen on swimming.
