August 12, DpoD part 2

So if going to the chocolate factory wasn't enough. We discovered that in Smith Falls there is a Railway Museum just up the road from the chocolate factory. It was very quickly decided that we would go. Nick plugged the co-ordinates into his GPS and the gentle voice of "woman with accent" (one of the voice options on the GPS) soothingly guided to the museum.

Big C loved the whole thing. As we backed in he was facing the trains and he starting shaking and his face was turning red. He was not able to contain his excitement! As soon as he go out of the car he ran over and started shouting and pointing-Train-a Train-a!!
Monkey came zipping accross the parking lot in simmilar fashion. "Mommy did you see the trains?" He was running around just trying to take it all in.
Big C has taken to CC. Every time she comes in the room he gets a huge grin on his face. From the above photos. I think that I may have figured out part of the reason! She is always making him laugh and smile.
It turns out that for $1, you can take a ride on an old pump car. How many mornings as I walked up the train tracks to school did I wish for one of these!!! Monkey had a blast and went on several trips. We're told that the money raised goes towards paint for the cars and museum upkeep. Sounds good to us!
Look for this picture in the Ottawa Citizen in the weeks to come. While we were there we ran in to a reporter who was doing a peice for the travel section about the museums that are an hour drive from Ottawa. He said that there are quite a few. It should be coming out over the long weekend. Sounds like a good thing to cut out and stick to your fridge for those days when you are looking for something to do.
The chocolate factory and the train museum, all in the same day-raise a banner!
