DPoD October 8th - Thanksgiving Weekend Update

We had a fabulous weekend with a house full of family. Grandma W, Aunt K, Uncle J and cousin Banannah stayed at chez WB for the whole weekend. They arrived early (read about 2 am) on Saturday morning after a very long day on the road. When we got up Saturday we went for breakfast at the usual place while meeting up with E-man and his daddy. After we were all stuffed (Ok, a little Thanksgiving humour came early this year) we headed off the to museum of S & T. The trains weren't running, but there was still lots to do. We checked out the space section and all of the rockets before Monkey and Big C had to show the previous generation the big trains. We got let into the caboose and got a family photo of the 3 little munchkins. We almost got all 3 of them to smile at the same time.

After that we took off for the tunnels and Monkey managed to elude Uncle J for much of the time. Big C took his turn too, running around like a happy little camper. We headed for the back of the museum to check out the crazy kitchen, the pulleys and the snowmobile. I don't think Banannah stopped smiling the entire time. I think that she'll likely be on one with her daddy this winter!

We headed home to bbq some supper and then make rainbow train cookies. Everyone got in on the action, especially grandma. Monkey had a great time and was even able to limit his M and M consumption to only 1 handful. Aunt K and Uncle J helped out too, but all too soon Monkey was off to bed. Mommy took a turn on baby duty with Banannah falling fast asleep in her lap during the hockey game.

Sunday morning we had blueberry pancakes with fresh blueberries that the W family had picked earlier in the season...mmmmm. We had our usual Sunday morning routine and then got the bird in the oven for supper. The meal was absolutely fantastic! Everyone had their own contribution - Sunshine was on the bird and the stuffing, Uncle J was a potato specialist, E-man's daddy did the gravy, Aunt K ran the yellow vegetable, Daddy made the niblets and poured the wine. All around it was a truly memorable Thanksgiving. We even had Banannah working on sticking out her tongue as far as she could to get all of the whip cream that she could muster from her dessert!

All too soon the W's were on their way home. After a closed Broadway nearly prevented a goodbye breakfast (who knew they opened at 9?) we hit Tim Horton's (aka 'the Donut Store' according to Monkey) for a bite to eat and a goodbye. It was a really great weekend and we felt truly blessed to have Thanksgiving meals with both families this year. The boys were totally spent today, as was Banannah in the car I'm sure. We miss you guys already!

Wow the pictures turned out well. Mom and Hannah and I just looked at all of them together.
We also relly enjoyed the weekend and the supper was great. I'm so glad Hannah got to hang out w/ her cousins.
The museum was a gret idea and Hanna'sfirst time, something to write down in her baby book.
